Graduation Day

8 weeks today! I'm so excited to announce that we officially graduated from the RE's office today. Now, we're considered a regular twin pregnancy! Our appointment went really well. I picked up Surfer from work, and we went to see Doc.

The ultrasound went wonderfully; Doc was able to show us both of our little ones, and one WAS waving at us! One baby was very easy to see and the other was laying at an odd angle so we were looking down on the top of its head - but we still were able to see both of their beautiful little hearts fluttering away. Each baby is about a 3/4" long.

We're relieved that both little ones are doing well, and we're also relieved that Doc didn't find another baby hiding somewhere in there (we asked him to check really well!).

Leaving Doc's office was quite a milestone - just to think that four and a half months ago, we went to him - sad, frustrated, wondering if we'd ever have children. And today, he sent us on our way with a big hug and many, many smiles. We promised we'd bring the babies back when they're born - and he was thrilled with that idea.

God bless Doc, and that whole wonderful clinic, for helping make our dreams of having children come true. And than you, Lord, for continuing to bless us and this pregnancy. We're so very grateful!

Awareness of the little ones

We have our eight-week ultrasound on Thursday - I'm so eager to take another look in there to make sure our little ones are still growing healthy and strong!

I think that they are, though - as they are certainly demanding a lot from me these days. First: food. It's amazing how much two babies who are less than an inch long want to eat! If I don't consume something every hour, my body starts to crash! It is a great sign, though, that they're growing and needing fuel to build those little bodies!

Second: energy. I sleep nearly 9 hours each night, usually take an afternoon nap, and still I'm exhausted during the day. Our babies must be playing pretty hard in there to take up so much of my zestiness!

Third: sanity. I regularly forget thoughts mid-sentence, tasks, questions - I even left my keys in my car door the other day and thankfully the Lord had angels watching out for us and sent some helpful young men our way to return the keys instead of steal the car! I think the babies' brains are developing this week, though, and it makes sense that they need my brain power.

Fourth: I just forgot it, seriously. See number three.

Fifth: Now that they've developed little legs, I'm sure they're pushing on the walls of their current home trying to get more room - and they're succeeding! I can feel the stretching and am so glad for another sign of growth.

What a great adventure we've been blessed to be able to begin!

7 Weeks!

We're seven weeks along today! Our babies finally look like little babies, and they're growing at an amazing pace these days!

Honestly, it has taken me a little while to adjust to the idea of having twins. While we were thrilled to finally be pregnant, Surfer and I were very overwhelmed at the thought of having two babies at once - the things we'd miss out on having only one to focus on, one to cuddle, one to teach, one to take places.

But now, we are both in genuinely excited at the thought of two babies. No, it won't be as easy as one - but then, we won't have any parenthood experience to compare it to anyway! Sure, I'll be the size of a truck by the time the babies are due. And maybe a trip to the grocery store won't be a breeze but who cares. That's what loving, helping moms are for! :) But most of all, these are OUR babies - I know that the second they're born, I'd never think "gee, I wish this one wasn't here."

We're not out of the woods yet, so keep growing healthy and strong, babies! We can't wait to see you both on the ultrasound next week - wave at us, if you can move your little tiny hands!

Twins!

We had our six-week ultrasound last week, and were amazed to find out that we're having TWINS! Doc began the ultrasound, focused in on the two little gestational sacs, and immediately we could see their precious little hearts beating away! What a beautiful sight!

We are thrilled, overwhelmed, doubly-blessed, and hoping and praying that everything continues to go well for BOTH of our little ones!

Doc said everything was measuring right on track, and that their heartbeats were the perfect rate (about 150bmp). We have one more ultrasound with him, and then we "graduate" to an OB!

I can't believe it. Thank you, Lord, for your wonderful blessings to us! Wow.
