I have heard of different ending points for the first trimester, from 12 weeks to 13 weeks, 4 days, to 14 weeks. So to be on the safe side, I just figured I'd wait until I was officially past the 14 week mark to celebrate.
Praise the Lord, we are out of the first trimester and into the second! Wow - it's amazing; there were times I thought I would never be pregnant, let alone get through the first trimester with flying colors. God willing, we will get through both this one and the third, and have our babies in our arms in January.
We had an extra check-up yesterday due to some cramping and pain, but both little ones looked fantastic and the tech didn't see anything to be concerned about. Our babies are so CUTE! They've grown so much; each one measures about 8 centimeters (about 3 1/2 inches) from crown to rump, and they'd probably snuggle nicely into the palms of my hands. Baby A was pretty active this time, waving its hands around and kicking a bit. Baby B was calmer but still spinning around up there - with much more room to stretch out and pose for us than poor Baby A down there on the bottom bunk. I really could just watch the ultrasound for hours - it makes the pregnancy seem so much more real!
I'm so thankful that things are going well; and that I feel great except for being really sore and tired - but that's no big deal. It's just a sign that the babies are growing and it makes the discomfort worth it!
And Surfer and I have been having so much fun trying to find great deals for baby gear on Craigslist. Bargain hunting!!! Love it. All in all, I think the weeks will start to tick by more quickly now that we're not necessarily counting every day but every week, every month. I can't believe we're just a few weeks away from being halfway through with the pregnancy already!
